Gofer Turtle at Quail Country

We went on a trip to Quail Country in South Georgia. We were riding on a dirt road and my Uncle saw a gofer turtle. I jumped out of the van (again) to pick him up. It was true love(first picture). On the bottom picture, you can see how he is starting to come out a little. It was exciting!

Trip to Daytona

On vacation, I went Deep Sea Fishing and I saw a Leatherback Sea Turtle the size as kitchen table (picture on top).
One day at the beach, we saw a Gofer Tortoise. We were driving down the road in Daytona. I jumped out of the van to pick him up. It was a girl (picture in the middle).
Near the lighthouse, we walked out on a peer. We looked in the water and saw a Logerhead Sea Turtle (last picture).

Franklin

My friend's dad found a baby snapping turtle on a Sunday morning. On our way to church, Dad and I stopped by to pick up the turtle. My friend had named it Franklin. He looked new borned because he was so small. I put with the tadpoles. He ate worms and tadpoles. Thank you, friends for allowing me to keep Franklin.
(A couple of months later while we were out of town, Franklin went missing)

SAM IS GONE

Sam ran away.

Sam the baby turtle

During Spring Break, my friends came over to my house carrying a plastic container. I asked them what was in the container from a distance. And they yelled, "a baby turtle". I ran over as fast as I could. It was true - there was an Eastern Box Turtle that was a newborn. They saved it from their cats. We put it in the turtle pen. Thank you, Friends!

Scaredy

This spring, we were walking on a trail in our woods. We found a turtle. I recognized it because I had seen him last year. It was Scaredy. I keep him for a couple of days in the turtle pen. Then I marked him and let him go.

Christmas Turtles

Today is Christmas! At 5:00 am, I went to see my presents from Santa. I got a 50 gallon tank but no turtles. Daddy said that I could maybe order some turtles from the internet and that he had a book in his bathroom about different kinds of turtles. When I went to get the book, I screamed because in the bathtub I saw one baby turtle. Daddy came and said, "Look again." I looked and saw another turtle. My Dad said that they are Southern Painted Turtles. We took most of the day setting up the aquarium in my room. Almost every minute, I asked if we could move them from the little tank in the bathtub to the 50 Gallon tank in my room. Finally, my dad said, YES!!" I think they love it because they are so tiny and the tank is huge.

I named the shy turtle Webster because I first noticed his webbed feet. I named the active turtle Skippy because he is so fast. The top picture is Webster and the bottom picture is Skippy.
